Policies and Procedures

As with any business there must be some guidelines set to follow. In the following paragraphs, I have tried to touch on some of the "business procedures".

My hours are from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, anything more is considered extra and/or overtime. I have other activities within my family that must be attended to and I need to respect those as well. Only in the case of an emergency will I be providing childcare after 6:00PM. I've been asked if I charge a late fee for after this time, and I hope I never have to. But if you are late, there will be a $15.00 late fee for every 5-minute increment. If there is an emergency, please give me a quick call. Your child, as well as myself, need to know.

Childcare Fees

Payment for childcare will be made weekly. Payments will be made on Friday afternoon for the next week. There will be a $15.00 a day late charge for payment. For any returned checks there will a charge of $40.00 and any fees that might incur on my account due to your NSF check. If there is a second NSF check then I will have to except cash only. I am like most people; I do not keep an over abundance of funds in my account. I do expect full payment throughout the year. No deposit required but a two week notice is requested before you withdraw your child from my day care.

Starting Date

If you wish to retain a position for your child a $50 non-refundable registration fee will need to be paid. Then the required weekly fee will need to be paid each week until the start date. When the appropriate starting date has been determined, then all forms will be due prior to or on the first day. Your child will not be kept until forms are in my possession.

Trial Period

I have a two (2) week trial period. This period is not free of charge, you are responsible for payments during this period. At the end of our two (2) week trial time, any problems should be reviewed. If there should be something that cannot be agreed upon there are no hard feelings, only well wishes and good-byes.

Holidays

There are several paid holidays that I take during the year. These are basic holidays that my husband receives at his job. I want to enjoy these holidays with him.

Vacation/Sick Days

During the year I receive ten (10) days of paid vacation, whether they are taken together or separately. You will receive a two (2) week notice prior to the day or days of paid vacation. If I take days off above my ten (10) days you will not have to pay me. During the year I will receive three (3) sick days if needed. I will not charge for the sick days. In return I would appreciate a notice that your child will be gone other than illness. After six months of enrollment you will be able to take a one week vacation without paying me. After one year, you can take two weeks of vacation without paying me.

Possible other days off

Bad Weather Days - If the Frisco ISD is closed for inclement weather, this daycare is closed. This is for the safety of everyone. Fees will still be due during this time.

General Items

As required by Texas State Department of Human Resources, I am planning to be a licensed home. I have the current minimum standard and you are welcome to look at it. Alii have to do is get that notebook out for you to see. These need to stay in my Day Care Facility, so they do not need to leave. I will have the most recent Licensing inspection report on file that is available for parents to look at, if desired. If you are in need to call the local Licensing office the phone number is 469-229-6929 or 1-800/582- 6036. Texas Department Family and Protective Service address is 550 East 15th, Suite 120, Plano, TX 75074. The PRS child abuse hotline number is 1-800/252-5400. I also have an information sheet for child abuse to be given to new parents. There is also a website for the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services. That website is www.tdprs.state.tx.us. This is available for anyone to look at and get answers on just about anything.

Release of Children

The release of your child or children will only be to one of the parents or to one of the designated persons on the admissions (enrollment) form. When entering those person's names I will need the driver's license number along with their phone number in case of an emergencies. I will ask to see that person's driver's license until I know who they are. I would appreciate notification on who is going to pick up if you are not able to do so. This is only for the safety of your child and myself.

Immunizations

With the minimum standards I need to have on file immunization updates. Each time your child receives shots, please get a copy for me to have. I will need to have a health statement from your doctor before your child is admitted. This statement needs to have a doctor's signature and states that your child is in good health and can participate in my home daycare facility.

Illness

As for medical guidelines, I will notify you if there is a fever of 100. This is to let you know and if you would like something for the fever to be given. You can bring something in their bags to be given to them. If your child's fever is that of 100.4 or more, you will be notified to pick them up immediately. If there is diarrhea or vomiting they need to be picked up also. If your child is running fever within 24 hours of childcare then they need to stay home until it is gone for 24 hours without using medication. We do not want to spread any diseases. Until medication is administered for 24 hours and no other symptoms are present then your child can return. Runny noses can be clear but signs of color discharge needs to be taken care of and returned to clear or gone before returning to Day Care.

Medications

When medications are to be given during my operational hours then I do not mind giving medications to your child as long as there is a written schedule, another requirement of the State. This protects your child as well as myself from overdosing. I will also have another Form to be signed off on for giving medications. Your schedule of dispensing medication should be on a piece of paper that I can keep in my files. If more than one day is necessary for the medication then state the dates to be administered. These schedules will be kept on my refrigerator during those dates.

Medical Emergencies

If there is a medical emergency, I will notify 911 and then call you. I will need the medical consent form in my files so I can show the EMT's so they can get care for your child. As soon as I can get to the emergency location I will go and be with your child. Hopefully you can get there soon also. I will have an Incident/Accident form that will be filled out for you to see and sign.

Animals

Only a small bird as a class pet.

Visitaion & Conference

I do allow parents to visit my home when the children are in my care. You need to know how they are being handled during the day. For prospective parents the initial interview will be done outside operational hours. This way I can give my time and attention to the children. You as parents know that schedules can change during the day for me and for you. This way you can pick up your child early if needed to be, but if you call ahead, I will have your child's things and him/her ready for you. There will be twice a year where I can share with you the progress report and goals for your child. I believe in focus on individual growth and individual goals. Dates for this conference will be provided four weeks in advance.

Accidents

If your child had an accident at home I would appreciate knowing. This way I can keep a watch for any problems or symptoms that might occur while in my care. I will notify you of any accidents that might occur during my care. Notification of major accidents will be done as soon as possible.

Meals and Snacks

Meals will be furnished according to appropriate age. There are certain requirements by the State that I need to follow. Schedule:

Item Start Time End Time
Breakfast 8:00 AM 8:30 AM
Snack 10:00 AM 10:30 AM
Lunch 12 Noon 12:30 PM
Snack 3:00 PM 3:30 PM

Naps

Toddlers are always put down for nap after lunch 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Each child is different and I work with each one. Some children sleep for a minimum amount of time - others will sleep a lot. The time they sleep reflects on them and what you agree upon.

Changes of Contract

Changes may be made to this contract by the provider at any time. The provider will give parents at least 2 weeks notice before they go into effect. There will be a sign off sheet for the parents to sign.

Discipline

The following methods of discipline will never be used on any child at Amazing Childrens Montessori:

Depending on the situation, a warning is usually given and the child is reminded of acceptable behavior and re-directed to a different activity. The next step would be a timeout. This timeout is not a punishment, but rather a time that they may calm down, remember what behavior is acceptable, and decide when they are ready to rejoin the group with the appropriate behavior. Time outs generally last 1 minute for each year of age. If timeouts are not effective, some sort of consequence will be imposed. This may range from a favorite toy being taken away for a short period of time to being excluded from a favorite activity. Naturally, parents will be advised. If you are using a certain method of discipline at home, please let me know so that we can be consistent.

Termination

I require a two (2) week notice for terminating your contract for day care. You are still responsible for payment for the 2 weeks even if you elect not to bring your child. I would like you to feel free to discuss any of the above subjects or any new ideas with me. Any problems or disagreements need to be dealt with immediately. I work with all parents. Since I care for more than your child, I spend as much time as I can with each one. I teach from an early age to play alone and with others. I love all children and try to play and spend as much time as possible with all of them. This is not a new job for me. I have been teaching since 1999 and have been in Montessori system since 2005. I staunchly believe in the Montessori system of education and want to make it my career and passion.
